There have been multiple rumors that the iPhone 16 Pro series screen size will be upgraded to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, and this news has been confirmed in the latest information from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, which means that Apple’s internal screen board for the iPhone 16 Pro may have been completed.
Gurman confirmed in the newsletter that other sources have reported that the iPhone 16 Pro model will have a “fraction of an inch” increase in screen diagonal length, mainly because the screen bezel will be significantly narrower and proportionally slimmer, but this will not be particularly noticeable. As a comparison, the current iPhone 14 Pro screen is 6.1 inches, iPhone 14 Pro Max is 6.7 inches.
The increased screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro Max is mainly due to the upgraded camera, and Apple needs more space to cram down a larger image sensor. It is reported that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will use a sensor size of 1/1.14 inches, closer to the 1-inch outsole used in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Compared to the 1/1.28-inch sensor used in the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 Pro’s sensor size has been significantly upgraded.
Not only that, on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple will also equip it with a periscopic telephoto lens that supports at least 6x optical zoom. With a large bottom sensor and a periscopic telephoto lens, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have a significant image upgrade.
The tweets about Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro models upgrading to 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screen sizes first came from Ross Young; then Uredditor on the 16th of this month; and then Ming-Chi Kuo posted similar content the same day.
It is worth mentioning that the iPhone 15 Pro to be released in September this year will also be adjusted in the screen, equipped with ultra-narrow bezel screen, the supply chain measured only 1.55mm, will break the 1.81mm bezel black edge record held by Xiaomi 13 (S22 and S23 about 1.95mm, iPhone 14 Pro for 2.17mm).
Thanks to this, the iPhone 15 Pro is instead a bit smaller than the iPhone 14 Pro series.

It is worth noting that the iPhone 15 Pro Max was originally planned to be equipped with solid-state buttons, but Apple did not achieve mass production and returned to the traditional buttons, solid-state buttons are expected to appear on the iPhone 16 Pro series, which is worth waiting for.
